| On Wednesday 19 March 2008 it was announced that Her Majesty the Queen has appointed Joseph Edward Cross to be a District Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Jack Straw MP. | |||
| The Lord Chief Justice, Lord Phillips of Worth Matravers, has assigned Edward to the South Eastern Circuit, based at Reigate County Court with effect from Monday 14 April 2008. | |||
| Edward first crossed the threshold of Chambers on 1st September 1975. Since then Chambers has grown substantially and Edward's presence throughout has been greatly valued by everyone in Chambers who has had the privilege to be one of his friends and colleagues. | |||
| Edward will be very much missed in Chambers, but he leaves us with our warmest affection and many congratulations on his richly deserved appointment. | |||
