About Room to Read:
Room to Read is a charity and was founded by John Wood in 2000. Formerly a Microsoft Executive, John Wood gave up his job to build libraries and fight illiteracy in the Third World. The mission of Room to Read is to provide under-privileged children with an opportunity to gain the lifelong gift of education. They do so by partnering with communities to build schools, establishing libraries and filling them with books and computers and providing scholarships for under privileged young girls. Founded in 2000 Room to Read now operates mainly in Cambodia, India, Nepal and Vietnam.
